At the weekly meeting of the members on Tuesday night at the British Schoolroom, a “spelling bee” was held, the Reverend S. Clarke being the conductor. The members were divided into two classes. In class one, 11 entered, and 20 words were given from a copy of the “Daily News”, Miss Ida Morris being awarded the first prize. In class two there were 5 competitors, the words being selected from the opening chapter of Genesis, and the prize taken by Mr A.W. Folkes.
